Our Program RETURN TO TOP

Our school operates one-day, two-day and three-day programs that run weekly starting in mid-September and ending in mid-May.  We follow the same cut off day as the public school in the district which is September 15th.  Children who are three, four, or five years of age by September 15 of that school year will be admitted on a first come first serve basis. Children that are 2 ˝ by September 15 will be admitted to the one-day per week class. Pre-kindergarten classes are also available for those children who need an extra year before moving on to kindergarten.

The school also operates a Summer Fun program that runs one week per month throughout the summer.
These sessions help the students extend their social involvement in a fun and “camp-like” environment.

Curriculum RETURN TO TOP

Our curriculum is based on various educational units depending on the age of the class.  All art units, stories, songs and musical activities revolve around the particular theme.  Some of the units of study are nursery rhymes, community helpers, dinosaurs, Native Americans, seasons, transportation, and the concepts of colors, numbers, alphabet and shapes are taught.  We include early mathematics, pre reading and science skills in our daily planning.

We have many community visitors invited to our school to expose the children to various programs such as the fireman, ambulance, post office, puppet shows, Red Cross, and Kid sight.

Typical Class Day RETURN TO TOP

Each day would include play time at centers such as housekeeping, dress-up, blocks, cars, trains, trucks, rice table, and dramatic play.  We feel this increases the child’s social, emotional, small motor and cognitive skills.

Small motor activities are also available to enhance visual perception, and the introduction of different art experiences and textures of mediums.  Easels are always available for the “budding artists”.

Circle time always includes the calendar, days of the week, months of the year while moving to music and songs. We believe that music plays a big part in learning and include it at every opportunity. We also address the seasons and changes in the weather.

Large group games are played such as parachute activities, relay games, guessing games, creative movement games and of course time spent on our playground outdoors.

Snack and story time are also favorites of the children.  We encourage good eating habits, manners time to visit with friends. We encourage the children to have a love of reading and increase their vocabulary and comprehension.
